Part botany, part history, part cultural anthropology—Trees goes beyond the basics to tell readers everything they might want to know about this particular branch of the plant kingdom. Trees explores the important roles trees play in our ecosystem, takes an up-close-and-personal look at the parts of trees (from roots to leaves), and unpacks the cultural impact of trees from classification systems (like family trees) to art forms (like bonsai trees). Looking forward, Trees also addresses the deforestation crisis. Heavily illustrated in the same style as Bees: A Honeyed History, Trees: A Rooted History serves as a beautifully packaged celebration of trees of all kinds. Trim Size: 10.5x 14.5 inches

Perfect book - from beginning to end!

This is an amazing book! Richly illustrated with gorgeous and accurate drawings, it is a suitable reference for kids and adults of all ages. This book is made with thick, high quality paper and can be treasured for many years. As a teacher, I have many books on trees, and this is by far the best that I have seen! I highly recommend this book!! I have placed an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper in front of the book in one picture, to show the large size. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

Not just Trees

This book was only half what I thought it would be. It is beautiful of course but I was expecting something more scientific that my kids could use in their nature studies. The first half can be used for identification. But this book includes things like “family trees,” “forest tales,” “the tree of evolution”,” things made of wood etc. It basically includes anything having to do with trees, including religious concepts and the word “tree” as a figure of speech. I wish I had known.

Beautiful, Informative Book That Should Be In Every Book Collection

I purchased this book a couple of months ago with the intention of using the illustrations as part of a lesson I put together for our little toddler homeschool group we’re apart of. I did end up briefly using it, but that was really just a good excuse to get my hands on it because for some reason it’s been on my wishlist (I LOVE children’s books). I mean, can you blame me, though? The artwork is wonderful! And the book is very informative. There are so many different approaches to trees rather than dialogue and pictures of only trees themselves. The book discusses leaves, roots, and seasons. It talks about seeds and species. There’s a large amount of history dispersed throughout the literature. There are spreads dedicated to what animals eat trees and which ones live in trees. And there is a lot of information about how trees are used to make things. All of the text is accompanied by beautiful, eye-catching illustrations that, in my opinion, are the driving force to purchase the book. I am so happy to have this as part of our personal library now, and I’m excited that it will be useful for many years to come. I’d honestly recommend this book for ALL ages. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the random splotches on the front cover (pictured). The product image features them as well, so I assume they’re supposed to be there. But they look out of place to me. And they can be found in a few other places through the book (one other is also pictured). This definitely doesn’t take away enough to warrant less than 5 stars, though. It really is such a beautiful book!

Delightful

Gorgeous drawings that are quirky and delightful. As a parent and a tree aficionado I wanted to read it more than my son, but he likes it too. I would recommend it. It’s a lovely book to help pass on a love of nature to the littles.

BEAUTIFUL

One of the prettiest books I've seen. We ended up ordering their bee one too. We liked this so much we just redid my daughter's room in a forest theme with tree decals to match. Absolutely worth the money - just wonderful!

Beautiful book

A beautiful book. Part history, part science, all art. It’s a wonderful overview of trees. Sturdy & nice paper. I use it for educational reasons & to enjoy.

Gorgeous book!

Much like the other books by this author, this book is beautiful and informative. It’s a large format hard cover, which I’m totally obsessed with. It’s on par with books published by Big Picture Press and Wide Eyed. I’m so impressed and will continue to order any book this author puts out to add to our home library. Thanks!!

Beautiful book

This book is so fascinating to read and look at the pictures, I can’t wait to share it with my children one day! I would just say it is a tall book, so if you are looking to put it on a bookshelf be aware of the size.

Incredible Resource for Nature Lovers

First impressions: My kids couldn't get enough of this book tonight, and neither could the grown-ups. Wide-eyed and enthralled, were we, with both the illustrations and the reading material. I can sense this book will become part of our all time family favorites, and think other nature-loving people of all ages will cherish it as well. I will update my review once we have read more of it and can give a more detailed account!

Great book

This, along with Bees, is an incredibly imaginative and fun book for kids and adults. Its oversize is unique and fits the style very well. Highly recommend!
